This month we talked to Ashford Mumpreneur, Liz Goodfellow who created her whole business vision while training for her first marathon, last May! Liz runs Wonder Women Network:
I provide wonderful events and workshops to connect people, promote female entrepreneurship and nurture fitness resilience and wellbeing. We believe that female entrepreneurs need to nurture themselves in order to ensure business success. When YOU are your business, YOU are the most important element!
Our events and workshops include: our Flagship Networking Event, Workout & Wellness Event, Vision Board Workshops, Social Media and Marketing Workshops and Networking meetings with professional development opportunities.
We started in September 2018 and our target market is entrepreneurial women and other women who want to attend our events and support female entrepreneurs, explore the AMAZING products and services available from women, all while nurturing their own fitness, resilience and wellbeing too.
What made you start up as a Mumpreneur?
I was entering a new stage of my life. Both my children were going to be at school and I wanted to enhance my working life by setting up my own business to gain flexibility, autonomy and to create something out of my passions. I was also very aware of how many women were running their businesses for similar reasons and I wanted to bring them together to form a supportive, empowering network to help each other succeed.
What have you most enjoyed about being a Mumpreneur so far?
Meeting so many ordinary women doing incredible things! I adore meeting new people and finding out what fantastic services and products they have to offer. There is a real female entrepreneurial revolution going on and I’m embedded in it. It is hugely exciting! I love providing opportunities for these women to promote themselves to the general public; develop their mindset and professional skills too. I’ve had some lovely feedback about the events and workshops I’ve run already and feel proud that I can support others in achieving their goals.
What, if anything, would you have done differently?
Nothing – Yet! I’m still very new to this entrepreneurial journey and I’m learning all the time but so far, no regrets!
What key piece of advice would you give to anyone thinking of taking the plunge?
Things don’t have to be perfect – don’t procrastinate – just go for it! Better to regret having a go and making some mistakes than think ‘If only I had tried…’. Also, getting enough exercise and putting your wellbeing FIRST is essential otherwise you’ll get burnout and you won’t be able to function at your best. Running and pilates are my absolute keys to feeling strong, energised and relaxed. Running is great for losing yourself and for generating creative ideas too. The exercise comes first, THEN the work.
Is there anything else you’d like to add?
“DREAM, BELIEVE, DARE, DO!” The ‘doing’ bit being the most important! So many of us have ideas and dreams but don’t make it happen. I’m all about making it happen – now!
